Öm Kids!

We are proud to announce a new kids program. We will be focusing on peaceful Buddhist principles to help our children develop compassion, respect, appreciation and mindful awareness.
The classes will have an underlying Buddhist theme, yet open to all backgrounds, and taught on a very light, fun and interactive level. The classes will be intended for children ages 4-11 with parent participation.
Families will be offered support in deveolping these attributes and to help bring these lessons into the home.
This year's intention for the 2008 ÖM Kids classes is to teach children ultimately how to embrace people they experience conflict with. We are going to do this through a progression of teachings working our way towards that end goal. The curriculum will start with working with challenging emotions such as anger and frustration, move into developing more positive states such as peace and loving-kindness, the we will do a series of classes focused on extending loving kindness towards others (this will include a service project), and then finally finish up with conflict resolution and extending compassion and loving kindness towards those we struggle with.
The age groups will be divided up and parents will also have their own group to work on learning how to bring the teachings into the home. There will be teaching, arts and crafts, fun experiments and experientials, and meditation instruction.
Pre-registration is required to enable us to prepare accordingly.
A suggested donation of $10 a family would be appreciated.
