Following a tradition established and maintained by the Buddha himself, the second annual Rains Retreat will be held at the Karuna Meditation Center in Phuket,Thailand. We are pleased to offer three 30-day retreats that can be combined into a traditional 90 Day retreat, or taken individually as 30-day retreats at our long term retreat center.
Starting with Mindfulness of Breathing & Body (Anapanasati) for the first month, and followed by Mindfulness of Feelings and Mind for another 30 days, this retreat will end with a Mahamudra retreat in July.
Mahamudra or "Great Seal" is the cornerstone of practice lineages. This practice has been handed down for hundreds of years from teacher to student in this setting. Sign up for the ultimate jump start on your practice! The Mahamudra practice requires proper preliminaries to allow for the best possible conditions under which to practice this life-changing meditation technique. The 30-Day retreat is one of the best places with ideal conditions to receive and practice these instructions.
This retreat will be held in Phuket, Thailand--a Buddhist country with Western services. The setting makes this one of the most special and auspicious retreats that have been held by Summit Dharma Center ever! We are also honored to announce that the retreatants will be joined by the Three Year retreatants already in Thailand!
Cost is expected to be approximately $2000 for airfare/travel, retreat cost (see chart), and a small donation to Gen-la if your situation allows for it. All meditation, yoga, meals, visa assistance, housing, internet, utilities, and airport pick up are included in the price. Please sign up if you have any interest in participating, even if you're not 100% certain you can do it. Travel and visa arrangements need to be made well in advance of April to help minimize costs and logistical issues.
