Maria DeSimone

Maria will offer yoga practices to assist us in meditation. She will help students find a stable, comfortable meditation posture, with asanas that open and align our bodies, especially hips and spine. Maria has practiced several yoga systems for over nine years, most notably Anusara yoga with John Friend. She has worked with all levels of students, including Buddhist meditators preparing for three year retreat, and is developing techniques (and cushions) that support long term meditation practice.

Beth will instruct the class on Vipassana (Skt: 'special-insight') meditation, on Mindfulness of Body and Feelings. This is the effort made by the meditator to understand correctly the nature of the psycho-physical phenomena taking place in his/her own body. Beth has attended many long and short term retreats, including four different 30-Day retreats in Colorado and India and has practiced with the Summit Dharma Center for over 7 years.

Prior Yoga experience is not required. Please wear appropriate, comfortable yoga attire but please wear 'conservative' clothing. Yoga mats are also recommended.
